The plan

The last time I had reflected on my retirement strategy was in Sep 2017. At that time I was 33, fully employed earning S$84k per year and on track to retire by 2021. This is a snapshot from the report that I made to capture important details from the analysis and strategy assumptions.
The plan may seem ambitious but was based on some reasonably conservative assumptions of expected returns on investment, salary and personal expenses. Based on what actually played out in the market which was the largest uncontrolled source of uncertainty had I stayed with that plan I would be comfortably at retirement now between S$ 700k to 1 mil in net assets.
I am not.
Instead I am back where I was in 2016 at just over S$210k in net assets. The reason is that a few months after this analysis I decided to abandon this strategy in pursuit of another goal.
